Which companies sponsor visas for procurement roles in California?
Large technology companies including Apple, Google, and Cisco, defense contractors such as Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and Raytheon, and healthcare systems like Kaiser Permanente and Sutter Health are among the most consistent sponsors of procurement roles in California. Retail and logistics companies operating major distribution hubs in Southern California also sponsor regularly for sourcing and supply chain positions.
Which visa types are most common for procurement roles in California?
The H-1B is the most common visa for procurement roles in California, particularly for positions requiring a degree in supply chain management, business, engineering, or a related field. Procurement analyst, strategic sourcing manager, and category manager roles have generally qualified as specialty occupations. Candidates already holding L-1 status through intracompany transfers are also common in California's large multinational employer base.
Which cities in California have the most procurement sponsorship jobs?
San Jose and the broader Silicon Valley corridor see the highest concentration of sponsored procurement roles due to the density of large technology employers. Los Angeles follows closely, driven by aerospace, entertainment supply chains, and retail giants. San Diego has a strong cluster tied to defense and biotech procurement. Sacramento also generates openings through state government contractors and agricultural supply chains.
How to find procurement visa sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate lists procurement roles in California that are open to visa sponsorship, filtered so you are not sorting through positions that exclude international candidates. Searching by role and state on Migrate Mate surfaces employers with an active sponsorship history in procurement, covering categories like strategic sourcing, purchasing, and supply chain management across California's technology, defense, and healthcare sectors.
Are there any California-specific considerations for procurement visa sponsorship?
California's prevailing wage requirements under H-1B apply at the higher of the federal or California-specific wage determinations, which are generally elevated given the state's cost of living. Procurement professionals with backgrounds in semiconductor, aerospace, or pharmaceutical supply chains are particularly sought after, and several California universities including UC Berkeley and USC have strong supply chain programs that feed directly into sponsored roles.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored procurement jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
