Which companies sponsor visas for procurement roles in Iowa?
Iowa employers with documented H-1B sponsorship histories in procurement and supply chain functions include Deere & Company, Rockwell Collins (now Collins Aerospace), Principal Financial Group, and UnityPoint Health. Large manufacturers and agricultural processors operating in the state, such as those in the Iowa food and machinery sectors, also sponsor procurement specialists when they cannot fill roles domestically.
Which visa types are most common for procurement roles in Iowa?
The H-1B is the most common visa for procurement professionals in Iowa, as roles like supply chain analyst, strategic sourcing manager, and contracts administrator typically qualify as specialty occupations requiring a relevant bachelor's degree. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may qualify for the TN visa under NAFTA/USMCA using the applicable professional category. L-1B transfers are also used when a multinational moves a specialist from an overseas office.
Which cities in Iowa have the most procurement sponsorship jobs?
Des Moines is Iowa's primary hub for procurement sponsorship, driven by its concentration of insurance, financial services, and healthcare employers. Cedar Rapids is the second most active market, with strong demand from manufacturing and technology firms including Collins Aerospace. Iowa City, anchored by the University of Iowa health system, also generates occasional procurement openings with sponsorship potential, particularly in healthcare supply chain and contract management.
How to find procurement visa sponsorship jobs in Iowa?
Migrate Mate is a job board built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship in the United States. You can filter by state and job category to surface procurement roles in Iowa where employers have indicated sponsorship willingness. Because Iowa's sponsorship activity is concentrated among a smaller group of larger employers, narrowing your search by industry, such as manufacturing, agriculture, or healthcare, helps identify the companies most likely to sponsor.
Are there state-specific considerations for procurement visa sponsorship in Iowa?
Iowa's procurement hiring is closely tied to its agricultural processing, insurance, and industrial manufacturing sectors, so candidates whose experience aligns with these industries are better positioned. Because Iowa has fewer overall H-1B filings than coastal states, sponsoring employers tend to be larger organizations with established immigration programs rather than startups. University of Iowa and Iowa State University occasionally produce international graduates who enter supply chain roles, creating some local talent pipeline awareness among Iowa employers.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored procurement jobs in Iowa?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
