Which companies sponsor visas for product owners in California?
California's largest tech employers are among the most active visa sponsors for product owner roles. Companies like Google, Apple, Meta, Salesforce, Adobe, Intuit, and Airbnb have consistent track records of filing H-1B petitions for product management positions. Enterprise software firms and well-funded startups in the Bay Area and Los Angeles also sponsor regularly, particularly for senior and specialized product owner roles.
Which visa types are most common for product owner roles in California?
The H-1B is the most common visa for product owners in California, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as computer science, engineering, or business. Candidates with a master's degree may benefit from the advanced degree exemption in the H-1B lottery. Australian citizens may also pursue the E-3 visa, which has no lottery and is widely used by product professionals at California tech companies.
Which cities in California have the most product owner sponsorship jobs?
San Francisco and San Jose account for the largest share of sponsored product owner roles in California, driven by the Bay Area's concentration of major tech headquarters and high-growth startups. Los Angeles has grown significantly as a tech hub, particularly in fintech, media tech, and e-commerce. San Diego has a notable presence in biotech and defense technology, where product owner roles with sponsorship also appear regularly.
How to find product owner visa sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters product owner roles in California by visa sponsorship eligibility, saving you from sorting through listings that won't support work authorization. The platform focuses on employers with active sponsorship histories, which is particularly useful in California where the volume of postings makes it otherwise difficult to identify genuine sponsorship opportunities quickly.
Are there any California-specific considerations for product owners seeking visa sponsorship?
California's prevailing wage requirements apply to H-1B filings and are typically set at competitive levels given the state's high cost of living, especially in the Bay Area. Product owner roles in California often require demonstrable technical depth alongside product experience, which strengthens a specialty occupation determination. University programs at UC Berkeley, Stanford, and UCLA also feed talent pipelines into California tech companies that are experienced H-1B sponsors.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored product owner jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
