Search Program Manager Jobs in CaliforniaProgram Manager Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies sponsor visas for program managers in California?
Large technology companies account for a significant share of program manager sponsorship in California. Google, Apple, Meta, Amazon, Salesforce, and Intel have active sponsorship histories for program management roles. Biotech and medical device firms such as Genentech, Gilead Sciences, and Edwards Lifesciences also sponsor program managers, particularly in the San Francisco Bay Area and San Diego.
Which visa types are most common for program manager roles in California?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa category for program managers in California, as the role generally qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as engineering, business, or computer science. Candidates with an L-1B or L-1A may transfer within a multinational company. Australian citizens may qualify for the E-3 visa, which has no lottery.
Which cities in California have the most program manager sponsorship jobs?
The San Francisco Bay Area, including San Jose, Sunnyvale, and Mountain View, leads the state for program manager sponsorship due to the density of major tech employers. Los Angeles is a secondary hub, particularly for entertainment technology, aerospace, and defense contractors. San Diego has a growing concentration of program manager roles in biotech, cybersecurity, and telecommunications.
How to find program manager visa sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to browse program manager roles in California without sifting through positions that won't support international candidates. You can filter by location and job title to surface employers who have active H-1B or other sponsorship histories for program management positions across the Bay Area, Los Angeles, and San Diego.
Are there any California-specific factors that affect visa sponsorship for program managers?
California employers must comply with the Department of Labor's prevailing wage requirements when sponsoring program managers on H-1B visas, and wages in the Bay Area are among the highest in the country given local market rates. California's concentration of H-1B-dependent employers, particularly in tech, also means some companies face additional attestation requirements. University pipelines from UC Berkeley, Stanford, and UCLA feed a steady flow of international program management candidates into the state's sponsorship market.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored program manager jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
