Which companies sponsor visas for program managers in Maryland?
Maryland's largest visa-sponsoring employers for program managers include Leidos, Northrop Grumman, SAIC, Booz Allen Hamilton, Lockheed Martin, and Johns Hopkins Medicine. Healthcare systems like MedStar Health and biotech firms concentrated in the I-270 corridor also sponsor program managers with regularity. Federal contractors dominate sponsorship activity in this state, particularly for candidates with security-clearance-adjacent experience.
Which visa types are most common for program manager roles in Maryland?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for program managers in Maryland, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field such as business, engineering, or information systems. Some employers also use the L-1A for intracompany transferees moving into management roles. TN visas apply for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying business categories.
Which cities in Maryland have the most program manager sponsorship jobs?
Bethesda and Rockville lead due to the concentration of federal agencies, contractors, and life sciences companies along the I-270 technology corridor. Baltimore is a strong second, driven by Johns Hopkins institutions, University of Maryland Medical System, and defense contractors. Columbia, in Howard County, is also an active hub given its proximity to both Baltimore and Washington, D.C.-area employers.
How to find program manager visa sponsorship jobs in Maryland?
Migrate Mate filters program manager roles specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it easier to identify Maryland employers actively willing to file petitions. Rather than sorting through general job listings, Migrate Mate surfaces opportunities from federal contractors, healthcare systems, and tech firms across Baltimore, Bethesda, and Rockville that have a documented pattern of sponsoring international candidates for program management positions.
Are there state-specific considerations for program managers seeking visa sponsorship in Maryland?
Maryland's high concentration of federal contractors means many program manager roles require security clearances, which can complicate sponsorship since clearances are generally not available to non-U.S. persons. Candidates should prioritize roles outside classified programs when pursuing sponsorship. The state's proximity to federal agencies in Washington, D.C. also means prevailing wage determinations often reflect higher cost-of-living expectations, which employers must certify when filing Labor Condition Applications.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored program manager jobs in Maryland?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
