Some Facts About Us
- 1+ million shipments per year
- Over $1 billion of freight under management
- Cashflow positive since inception
- Backed by Golden Gate Capital, a Tier 1 private equity firm based in San Francisco, CA. Golden Gate has a diverse portfolio of companies with over $15 billion in committed capital.
About The Role
We are looking for a Backend Engineer who thrives in one of the hardest environments in business: legacy supply chains, enterprise customers, startup speed, and chaotic real-world operations. At Vorto, engineers are builder-owners who turn messy, ambiguous problems into automated, scalable systems that transform how freight moves across America. You’ll work across the stack to design, build, and operate mission-critical services — embedding AI agents, stabilizing and scaling high-volume systems, and automating workflows that eliminate manual work. Successful engineers here move with 10× speed, recover quickly, understand fundamentals deeply, and own outcomes end-to-end. If you want to build world-class systems, solve real-world complexity, and operate at the intersection of AI and logistics, this role is for you.
What You Will Do
- Design, build, and operate services used daily by shippers, carriers, and drivers
- Automate developer-dependent tasks (e.g., tool creation and debugging) to accelerate internal and customer automation efforts
- Embed AI/LLMs (Vertex AI, open-source models, agentic tools) to automate decision-making and super-charge developer productivity
- Stabilize backend services
- Own Problems end to end
What You'll Work With
Backend: Golang, Python, Postgres, Redis
Infra: GCP
Must-haves
What Sets You Up for Success
- 3+ years of professional software engineering experience delivering production systems at scale.
- Strong background in product driven backend development
- Deep understanding of what makes systems performant, scalable, and maintainable
- Fluency with SQL schema design and data modeling for transactional & analytical workloads.
- Demonstrated ability to leverage LLMs/AI agents to boost velocity and solve novel problems.
- Superior product reasoning skills
- Exceptional written & verbal communication; able to align technical decisions with business outcomes.
Nice-to-haves
- Proven track record of owning problems end to end
- Startup experience
- Experience stabilizing and scaling large code bases
How We Work
- Autonomy with accountability – small, mission-focused squads own features from concept to customer value.
- AI-accelerated development – Copilot, Cursor, and our own agentic tools are part of the standard toolkit.
- Continuous delivery mindset – we ship daily, sometimes multiple times a day. We love dark launching and aren't afraid of hotfixes or rollbacks

Which companies sponsor visas for back end developers in Colorado?
Established Colorado employers with documented H-1B sponsorship histories for back end developers include Lockheed Martin, Palantir Technologies, and Arrow Electronics. Denver's fintech sector, including companies like Vertafore and Ping Identity, also files regularly. Boulder's healthtech and SaaS companies round out the sponsoring employer base, particularly for roles involving Python, Java, and cloud infrastructure.
Which visa types are most common for back end developer roles in Colorado?
The H-1B is by far the most common visa for back end developers in Colorado, as software engineering roles typically qualify as specialty occupations requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or a related field. Candidates already in the U.S. on F-1 OPT or STEM OPT are often the starting point, with employers then filing H-1B petitions. L-1B transfers are also used when developers move within multinational companies.
Which cities in Colorado have the most back end developer sponsorship jobs?
Denver concentrates the majority of back end developer sponsorship activity in Colorado, driven by its established tech corridor and corporate headquarters presence. Boulder is the second-strongest market, with CU Boulder feeding talent into local SaaS, biotech, and cybersecurity companies. Colorado Springs has a smaller but growing tech base, particularly tied to defense contractors that sponsor for security-clearance-compatible roles.
How to find back end developer visa sponsorship jobs in Colorado?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to find back end developer roles in Colorado without sorting through postings that don't offer sponsorship. You can filter by state and role type to surface active openings from Denver, Boulder, and Colorado Springs employers. This saves significant time compared to parsing general job boards where sponsorship intent is rarely stated upfront.
Are there any Colorado-specific considerations for back end developers seeking visa sponsorship?
Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act requires employers to disclose compensation ranges in job postings, which is genuinely useful for international candidates assessing whether an offer meets H-1B prevailing wage requirements before investing time in the application process. The state's concentration of federal contractors also means some back end roles require U.S. citizenship or active security clearances, which excludes most visa-sponsored candidates, so reviewing eligibility requirements early is important.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored back end developer jobs in Colorado?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
