Which companies sponsor visas for back end developers in Florida?
Florida-based companies with documented H-1B sponsorship history for back end developers include Chewy, Citrix, Carnival Corporation, World Fuel Services, and Ultimate Kronos Group (UKG). Miami's fintech corridor also includes companies like Kaseya and Modernizing Medicine. Defense contractors around Orlando, such as Lockheed Martin and L3Harris, also sponsor back end engineering roles, particularly for cloud and systems development.
Which visa types are most common for back end developer roles in Florida?
The H-1B is the most common visa for back end developers in Florida, as software development typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field. Australians may use the E-3 visa as an alternative. Candidates with extraordinary ability may qualify for O-1B consideration, and some multinational employers use the L-1B for intracompany transfers into Florida offices.
Which cities in Florida have the most back end developer sponsorship jobs?
Miami leads Florida for back end developer sponsorship activity, driven by its fintech, healthtech, and startup growth. Tampa follows closely, with a concentration of SaaS, cybersecurity, and financial services employers. Orlando has strong demand from defense contractors, simulation technology firms, and hospitality tech companies. Jacksonville hosts a smaller but growing tech sector, particularly in insurance and logistics software development.
How to find back end developer visa sponsorship jobs in Florida?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship jobs in the U.S. You can filter directly by state and role to find back end developer positions in Florida posted by companies with active sponsorship history. This saves significant time compared to manually vetting whether employers are open to sponsorship, which is rarely stated explicitly in standard job postings.
Are there any state-specific factors back end developers should know about the Florida job market?
Florida has no state income tax, which affects how employers frame total compensation and prevailing wage compliance under H-1B rules. The state's strong university pipeline, including graduates from University of Florida, Florida International University, and UCF, creates competition for entry-level roles. Back end developers with experience in Python, cloud infrastructure, or financial systems integration tend to have stronger sponsorship prospects given Florida's industry mix.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored back end developer jobs in Florida?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
