Which companies sponsor visas for security engineers in Colorado?
Colorado's largest visa sponsors for security engineers include Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, and Palantir in the defense and intelligence space, alongside tech-forward employers like Arrow Electronics, DISH Network, and Confluent in the Denver metro. Cloud and cybersecurity firms with Colorado offices, including Ping Identity and Optiv, have also filed H-1B Labor Condition Applications for security engineering roles.
Which visa types are most common for security engineer roles in Colorado?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for security engineers in Colorado, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, cybersecurity, or a related field. Candidates with extraordinary ability may pursue the O-1A. Australians working in security engineering can also use the E-3 visa, which has no lottery.
Which cities in Colorado have the most security engineer sponsorship jobs?
Denver accounts for the largest share of security engineer sponsorship activity in Colorado, driven by its concentration of tech companies, financial services firms, and defense contractors. Boulder is a secondary hub with a strong cybersecurity startup presence. Colorado Springs sees sponsorship activity tied to its defense and government contracting sector, given its proximity to military installations including Fort Carson and Peterson Space Force Base.
How to find security engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Colorado?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to find security engineer roles in Colorado where employers have indicated willingness to sponsor. You can narrow results by location and role to surface active openings from Colorado-based employers across the defense, tech, and financial services sectors that have a track record of H-1B and other visa filings.
Are there state-specific factors that affect security engineer sponsorship in Colorado?
Colorado's PROSPER Act requires employers to disclose compensation ranges in job postings, which gives international candidates more transparency when evaluating sponsorship opportunities. Many security engineering roles tied to defense and federal contracts in Colorado also require security clearances, and non-US citizens face significant restrictions obtaining clearances, which can narrow the pool of sponsoring employers to those with cleared-citizen hiring pathways or unclassified engineering divisions.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored security engineer jobs in Colorado?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
