Which companies sponsor visas for security engineers in Indiana?
Indianapolis-based employers with consistent H-1B sponsorship histories for security engineering roles include Salesforce, Eli Lilly, Cummins, and Anthem (now Elevance Health). Defense and government contractors operating near Fort Wayne also hire security engineers, as do regional financial institutions and healthcare IT firms. Sponsorship patterns vary by company and year, so reviewing DOL LCA disclosure data gives the most current picture of active sponsors.
Which visa types are most common for security engineer roles in Indiana?
The H-1B is the most common visa for security engineers in Indiana, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, information security, or a related field. Some candidates enter on F-1 OPT or STEM OPT extensions before transitioning to H-1B status. L-1B visas occasionally apply when a security engineer transfers from a foreign office of a multinational company with Indiana operations.
Which cities in Indiana have the most security engineer sponsorship jobs?
Indianapolis generates the large majority of security engineer visa sponsorship activity in Indiana, driven by its concentration of healthcare technology, financial services, and enterprise software companies. Fort Wayne has a secondary cluster tied to manufacturing and defense-adjacent employers. Bloomington and West Lafayette see occasional sponsorship activity connected to Indiana University and Purdue University's affiliated research and technology operations.
How to find security engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Indiana?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for roles open to visa sponsorship, making it straightforward to search security engineer positions in Indiana without sorting through listings that exclude international candidates. The platform surfaces employers actively hiring for this role in Indianapolis and across the state. Combining Migrate Mate's filtered search with direct outreach to Indiana-based technology and healthcare employers tends to be the most efficient approach for this role.
Are there state-specific factors that affect visa sponsorship for security engineers in Indiana?
Indiana's lower cost of living relative to coastal tech hubs means prevailing wage requirements under the H-1B program are generally set at lower thresholds than in states like California or New York, which can make sponsorship more accessible for smaller Indiana employers. Purdue University and Indiana University produce a steady pipeline of computer science and cybersecurity graduates, which means local employers are familiar with OPT-to-H-1B transitions for engineering roles.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored security engineer jobs in Indiana?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
