Which companies sponsor visas for software design engineers in Colorado?
Several large employers in Colorado have established track records of sponsoring work visas for software design engineers. Google's Boulder office, Amazon's Denver operations, Lockheed Martin's aerospace division in Littleton, and Arrow Electronics in Centennial are among the most consistent sponsors. Mid-size SaaS companies headquartered along the Front Range also file H-1B visa petitions regularly, particularly for senior engineering roles requiring specialized systems or hardware design expertise.
Which visa types are most common for software design engineer roles in Colorado?
The H-1B is the most widely used visa for software design engineers in Colorado, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field. Australian citizens may also pursue the E-3 visa, which has no lottery and significantly shorter processing times. Candidates with extraordinary achievements in engineering may qualify for the O-1A.
Which cities in Colorado have the most software design engineer sponsorship jobs?
Denver leads the state in volume, driven by its concentration of enterprise technology firms, cloud infrastructure companies, and aerospace contractors. Boulder follows closely, with a dense cluster of software companies, research institutions, and University of Colorado spin-outs that actively hire and sponsor international engineers. Colorado Springs has a growing defense and cybersecurity sector, where software design engineering roles tied to government contracting also appear regularly.
How to find software design engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Colorado?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters software design engineer roles in Colorado by visa sponsorship status, so you're not manually screening out employers who don't sponsor. The platform surfaces positions from companies with verified sponsorship histories, which is particularly useful in Colorado where sponsorship activity is spread across large employers in Denver and Boulder and smaller engineering firms across the Front Range.
Are there any state-specific considerations for software design engineers seeking visa sponsorship in Colorado?
Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act requires employers to disclose compensation ranges in job postings, which gives international candidates useful transparency when evaluating whether an offer meets H-1B prevailing wage requirements set by the Department of Labor. The state's aerospace and defense sector is also notable: many roles at companies like Lockheed Martin require security clearances, which can create complications for non-citizens regardless of visa status.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored software design engineer jobs in Colorado?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
