Which companies sponsor visas for occupational therapists in Delaware?
ChristianaCare, Bayhealth Medical Center, and Encompass Health are among the larger healthcare employers in Delaware with histories of sponsoring work visas for occupational therapists. School districts and outpatient rehabilitation clinics occasionally sponsor as well, particularly when filling persistent vacancies. Sponsorship availability varies by facility and hiring cycle, so confirming directly with each employer's HR team is the most reliable approach.
Which visa types are most common for occupational therapist roles in Delaware?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for occupational therapists in Delaware, as the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a master's degree under current ACOTE standards. Some international OTs, particularly those from countries with treaty agreements, may qualify for TN visa (Canadian and Mexican nationals) or E-3 visa (Australian citizens) visas. EB-3 immigrant visas are also used for permanent sponsorship of qualified OTs.
Which cities in Delaware have the most occupational therapist sponsorship jobs?
Wilmington generates the most occupational therapist job activity in Delaware, anchored by ChristianaCare's flagship hospital and affiliated outpatient network. Newark, home to the University of Delaware, supports additional healthcare hiring tied to the university medical system. Dover, as the state capital, has Bayhealth Medical Center and surrounding long-term care facilities that periodically hire internationally trained OTs.
How to find occupational therapist visa sponsorship jobs in Delaware?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters occupational therapist roles in Delaware that include visa sponsorship. Rather than sorting through general postings, you can search directly for OT positions where employers have indicated willingness to sponsor. This is especially useful for identifying which Delaware healthcare systems and rehabilitation facilities are actively hiring internationally trained therapists.
Are there state-specific considerations for occupational therapists seeking sponsorship in Delaware?
Delaware requires occupational therapists to hold a state license issued by the Delaware Board of Occupational Therapy. International applicants must have their foreign credentials evaluated for equivalency before applying for licensure, which can affect visa timing since employers typically require licensure before start date. Delaware's small geographic footprint also means many OTs work across state lines in the Philadelphia and Baltimore metro areas, which may complicate employer-sponsored visa arrangements tied to a specific work location.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored occupational therapist jobs in Delaware?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
