Which companies sponsor visas for automation engineers in Florida?
Florida's aerospace and defense industry is the most consistent source of automation engineer sponsorship. Companies like Lockheed Martin, Raytheon Technologies, Northrop Grumman, and L3Harris Technologies have a track record of H-1B filings for engineering roles, particularly along the Space Coast. Siemens, Honeywell, and General Dynamics also have Florida operations with sponsored automation and controls engineering positions.
Which visa types are most common for automation engineer roles in Florida?
The H-1B is the most common visa for automation engineers in Florida, given that the role typically requires a bachelor's degree or higher in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field, meeting the specialty occupation standard. Candidates from Canada or Mexico may qualify for TN visas under the engineer category, and those with extraordinary ability in their field may pursue the O-1A as an alternative.
Which cities in Florida have the most automation engineer sponsorship jobs?
Orlando and the Space Coast corridor, including Melbourne and Titusville, lead Florida for automation engineer sponsorship given the concentration of aerospace and defense contractors near Kennedy Space Center. Tampa has a growing advanced manufacturing base with sponsored engineering roles. Miami sees some demand in industrial automation tied to logistics and port operations, though it lags behind Central Florida in volume.
How to find automation engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Florida?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search automation engineer roles in Florida without sifting through positions that don't sponsor. The platform surfaces openings from aerospace, defense, and manufacturing employers in cities like Orlando, Melbourne, and Tampa that have active H-1B hiring programs for engineering candidates.
Are there any state-specific considerations for automation engineers seeking sponsorship in Florida?
Florida's large defense and aerospace sector means many automation engineer roles involve security clearance requirements, which can complicate or preclude sponsorship for non-citizens at some employers. The University of Florida, UCF, and USF produce a strong local engineering pipeline, and some employers recruit internationally through these university systems. Prevailing wage compliance under the H-1B is determined by DOL wage data for the specific metropolitan area, such as Orlando or Tampa, not statewide figures.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored automation engineer jobs in Florida?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
