Which companies sponsor visas for automation engineers in Wisconsin?
Wisconsin manufacturers and industrial firms are among the most active sponsors for automation engineers. Rockwell Automation, Harley-Davidson, Johnson Controls, and Plexus Corp have sponsored H-1B workers in engineering roles. Food processing companies such as Kraft Heinz and dairy equipment manufacturers also hire automation engineers with visa sponsorship. Checking DOL Labor Condition Application disclosure data confirms which Wisconsin employers have active sponsorship histories.
Which visa types are most common for automation engineer roles in Wisconsin?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for automation engineers in Wisconsin, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, or controls engineering, meeting specialty occupation standards. TN visas are an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals whose engineering credentials align with USMCA classifications. Some employers also use O-1 visas for engineers with documented exceptional expertise or research contributions.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most automation engineer sponsorship jobs?
Milwaukee and its surrounding suburbs, including Brookfield and Waukesha, concentrate the highest number of automation engineering opportunities due to Rockwell Automation's headquarters and its dense supplier network. Madison supports sponsorship roles through university-affiliated research and tech-adjacent manufacturing. Green Bay and the Fox Valley corridor, home to paper, packaging, and food processing facilities, also generate consistent demand for automation engineers with visa sponsorship.
How to find automation engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship status, so you can search automation engineer roles in Wisconsin without sorting through positions that don't sponsor. The platform surfaces employers actively willing to sponsor, which matters when your timeline is tied to OPT or an H-1B filing deadline. Focusing your search on Wisconsin's manufacturing and industrial corridors within Migrate Mate will return the most relevant results.
Are there state-specific factors automation engineers should know when pursuing sponsorship in Wisconsin?
Wisconsin's manufacturing industry drives strong baseline demand for automation engineers, which supports consistent H-1B filing activity across the state. The University of Wisconsin-Madison and Milwaukee School of Engineering produce engineering graduates who enter the local talent pipeline, meaning employers are familiar with OPT and STEM OPT timelines. Prevailing wage determinations for automation roles in Wisconsin vary by county, so urban Milwaukee-area positions typically reflect higher wage tiers than rural manufacturing sites.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored automation engineer jobs in Wisconsin?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
