Which energy companies in Florida sponsor work visas?
Major Florida energy employers sponsoring visas include Florida Power & Light (FPL), NextEra Energy, Duke Energy Florida, Tampa Electric Company (TECO), and Constellation Energy. These utilities and power generation companies frequently sponsor H-1B visas for engineering, project management, and technical roles. Solar companies like Origis Energy and offshore wind developers also provide sponsorship opportunities.
What visa types are most common for energy jobs in Florida?
H-1B visas dominate Florida energy sponsorship, particularly for electrical engineers, project engineers, and energy analysts. O-1 visas are occasionally used for senior researchers in renewable energy or nuclear technology. L-1 visas are common for international energy companies with Florida operations, while TN visas serve Canadian and Mexican professionals in engineering roles.
How to find energy visa sponsorship jobs in Florida?
Use Migrate Mate to search specifically for energy visa sponsorship positions filtered to Florida. The platform shows which companies actively sponsor visas and provides detailed job requirements. Focus on utilities, renewable energy developers, and engineering consulting firms in Miami, Tampa, and Orlando metro areas where most energy sponsorship opportunities are concentrated.
Which Florida cities have the most energy visa sponsorship jobs?
Miami leads with NextEra Energy headquarters and numerous renewable energy firms. Tampa Bay area hosts TECO, Constellation, and multiple engineering consultancies. Orlando offers opportunities with Duke Energy Florida and clean energy startups. Jacksonville and West Palm Beach also feature utility operations and solar development companies that sponsor international workers.
What should I know about Florida's energy job market for visa sponsorship?
Florida's aggressive renewable energy targets create growing demand for international talent in solar, wind, and energy storage. The state's hurricane-prone environment drives focus on grid resilience engineering. University partnerships with UF, FSU, and FIU provide research opportunities. Prevailing wages vary significantly between rural utility positions and urban renewable energy firms.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored energy jobs in Florida?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
