Which companies in Georgia sponsor visas for development engineers?
Several large employers in Georgia have established H-1B visa sponsorship histories for development engineers, including NCR Voyix, Honeywell, Delta Air Lines, Cox Enterprises, and Global Payments, all headquartered or operating major engineering offices in the Atlanta metro area. Consulting and defense contractors with Georgia presence, such as SAIC and Leidos, also file H-1B petitions for development engineer roles with some regularity.
Which visa types are most common for development engineer roles in Georgia?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for development engineers in Georgia, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in engineering or a closely related field. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may qualify for TN visa status under the engineer classification. Those with extraordinary ability or multinational backgrounds may explore O-1A or L-1B pathways respectively.
Which cities in Georgia have the most development engineer sponsorship jobs?
Atlanta accounts for the large majority of development engineer sponsorship activity in Georgia, with additional concentration in the northern suburbs of Alpharetta, Marietta, and Peachtree City, where aerospace and fintech employers maintain engineering campuses. Savannah is an emerging secondary market, particularly in logistics technology, driven by port expansion and associated supply chain infrastructure investment.
How to find development engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Georgia?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for roles where employers have demonstrated sponsorship willingness, including development engineer positions across Georgia. Rather than sorting through general job boards where sponsorship eligibility is unclear, Migrate Mate surfaces opportunities relevant to international candidates, letting you focus your applications on Georgia employers who are actively open to H-1B and other work visa arrangements.
Are there state-specific factors development engineers should know about sponsorship in Georgia?
Georgia's technology sector is anchored by Atlanta's status as a Fortune 500 hub and a growing fintech and cybersecurity corridor, which sustains consistent demand for development engineers and supports a relatively active H-1B filing base. Georgia Tech produces a significant pipeline of engineering talent, which means sponsored roles tend to be competitive. Prevailing wage requirements under the H-1B apply based on the specific metro area and job classification, which vary between Atlanta and smaller Georgia markets.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored development engineer jobs in Georgia?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
