Which companies sponsor visas for internships in Georgia?
Atlanta-based employers are the primary source of sponsored internships in Georgia. Companies like Delta Air Lines, The Home Depot, NCR Voyix, and Cox Enterprises have historically taken on international interns. Georgia Tech's corporate partners in engineering and computer science also represent a strong cluster. Sponsorship availability varies by year, headcount, and the intern's existing work authorization status.
Which visa types are most common for internship roles in Georgia?
Most international interns in Georgia work under F-1 OPT or CPT, which allows students enrolled at a U.S. university to work without employer-sponsored visa petitions. For non-student interns, the J-1 Exchange Visitor visa is common, administered through a designated sponsor organization. The H-1B is rarely used for internships due to the cap, lottery, and degree requirements that most short-term roles cannot satisfy.
Which cities in Georgia have the most internship sponsorship jobs?
Atlanta accounts for the overwhelming majority of sponsored internship opportunities in Georgia, driven by its concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters, technology firms, and logistics companies. Midtown Atlanta, Buckhead, and the Perimeter Center corridor are the densest hiring areas. Outside Atlanta, Savannah has emerging opportunities in manufacturing and port logistics, while Athens sees activity tied to University of Georgia research programs.
How to find internship visa sponsorship jobs in Georgia?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it easier to identify Georgia employers actively hiring international interns rather than sorting through roles that don't offer sponsorship. You can search by role type and state to surface internship positions in Atlanta and beyond. This saves significant time compared to manually screening general job boards for sponsorship eligibility.
Are there any Georgia-specific considerations for international interns seeking visa sponsorship?
Georgia's large university ecosystem, including Georgia Tech, Georgia State, and Emory, creates strong OPT and CPT pipelines that many Atlanta employers are already familiar with. Employers here tend to be more comfortable with F-1 work authorization than with navigating full H-1B sponsorship for short-term roles. International interns should confirm their authorization type with their international student office before applying, as requirements differ by program and employer.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored internship jobs in Georgia?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
