Which companies sponsor visas for director of project management roles in Hawaii?
Defense and federal contractors operating in Hawaii, including Booz Allen Hamilton, Leidos, and SAIC, have a documented history of sponsoring H-1B visas for senior project management positions. Large hospitality operators such as Marriott and Hilton Grand Vacations, along with healthcare systems like The Queen's Health Systems, also file sponsorship petitions for director-level PM roles in the state.
Which visa types are most common for director of project management roles in Hawaii?
The H-1B is the most frequently used visa for director of project management positions in Hawaii, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a relevant field like business administration, engineering, or information technology. Candidates with multinational employer backgrounds may also see L-1A intracompany transfer petitions, particularly within large hotel or defense contractor organizations with Hawaiian operations.
How to find director of project management visa sponsorship jobs in Hawaii?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to search for director of project management roles in Hawaii without sorting through employers who don't sponsor. The platform surfaces positions from defense contractors, government-adjacent firms, and hospitality operators that actively hire at the director PM level in Honolulu and surrounding areas, saving significant research time for international candidates.
Which cities in Hawaii have the most director of project management sponsorship jobs?
Honolulu accounts for the large majority of director of project management openings in Hawaii, driven by its concentration of federal agencies, military support contractors, major hospitals, and corporate hotel headquarters. Pearl City and Kapolei, both on Oahu, have growing commercial and government project activity. Maui occasionally sees director-level PM postings tied to resort development and infrastructure projects, though volume is considerably lower than Honolulu.
Are there state-specific considerations for director of project management visa sponsorship in Hawaii?
Hawaii's geographic isolation means employers often prioritize candidates willing to commit long-term, which can work in favor of sponsorship conversations since the investment in relocation and visa filing is more clearly justified. The state's heavy dependence on federal defense spending and tourism means PM directors frequently manage complex, multi-year projects, a profile that aligns well with H-1B specialty occupation requirements and supports stronger sponsorship petitions.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored director of project management jobs in Hawaii?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
