Which companies sponsor visas for nursing technicians in Hawaii?
Hawaii Pacific Health, The Queen's Health Systems, Kaiser Permanente Hawaii, and Adventist Health Castle are among the state's largest healthcare employers with histories of sponsoring foreign national clinical staff. Federally qualified health centers and long-term care facilities, particularly those serving rural Oahu and neighbor islands like Maui and Hawaii Island, also hire nursing technicians and have sponsored work visas to address persistent staffing gaps.
Which visa types are most common for nursing technician roles in Hawaii?
The H-1B is the most common visa for nursing technicians whose roles meet the specialty occupation standard, typically requiring a relevant bachelor's degree. The EB-3 immigrant visa is a well-established pathway in healthcare, particularly for roles where employers are willing to support permanent residence. Some positions filled through staffing agencies may involve TN visas for eligible Canadian and Mexican nationals. Visa type eligibility depends on the specific role definition and employer.
Which cities in Hawaii have the most nursing technician sponsorship jobs?
Honolulu accounts for the large majority of nursing technician sponsorship opportunities in Hawaii, home to the state's major hospital campuses and medical centers. Hilo on Hawaii Island has a smaller but active hiring market centered on Hilo Medical Center. Kahului on Maui and Lihue on Kauai see more limited but consistent demand, particularly in facilities facing acute staffing shortages that make international sponsorship more likely.
How to find nursing technician visa sponsorship jobs in Hawaii?
Migrate Mate is a job board specifically built for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship in the United States, including nursing technician roles in Hawaii. You can filter directly by state and role to see current openings from employers who have indicated sponsorship availability. Because Hawaii's healthcare market is smaller than mainland states, setting up alerts on Migrate Mate for new Hawaii nursing technician postings helps you respond quickly when positions open.
Are there state-specific considerations for nursing technicians seeking sponsorship in Hawaii?
Hawaii requires nursing technicians to meet state licensing and certification standards set by the Hawaii Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, and employers sponsoring visa petitions must comply with Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements specific to each occupational category and county. Hawaii's relatively high cost of living compared to the mainland is a factor employers weigh when structuring compensation for sponsored positions. The University of Hawaii's nursing programs create a local graduate pipeline, so international candidates typically find the most success applying directly to large health systems with established international hiring processes.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored nursing technician jobs in Hawaii?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
