Which technology companies sponsor visas in Idaho?
Micron Technology is Idaho's largest tech visa sponsor, regularly filing H-1B petitions for memory engineers and software developers. Other active sponsors include Clearwater Analytics, HealthEquity, and various Boise-area startups. Government contractors like Idaho National Laboratory also sponsor visas for cybersecurity and research positions.
How to find technology visa sponsorship jobs in Idaho?
Migrate Mate specializes in technology visa sponsorship jobs across Idaho, with filters for specific tech roles and visa types. Focus on Boise's tech corridor where most sponsoring employers are located. Many Idaho tech companies are open to sponsorship but don't actively advertise it, making targeted platforms essential for finding these opportunities.
Which visa types are most common for technology roles in Idaho?
H-1B visas dominate Idaho's tech sponsorship, particularly for software engineering and data analysis roles. O-1 visas are occasionally used for senior technical architects or AI researchers at companies like Micron. TN visas work well for Canadian software developers, while L-1 transfers are common at multinational tech companies with Boise offices.
Which cities in Idaho have the most technology sponsorship jobs?
Boise leads with over 80% of Idaho's tech visa sponsorship jobs, concentrated in downtown and the West Boise tech corridor. Meridian and Nampa offer additional opportunities, particularly in fintech and healthcare technology. Pocatello has limited tech sponsorship, mainly through Idaho State University research programs and government contractors.
What are prevailing wage considerations for technology jobs in Idaho?
Idaho tech prevailing wages are typically 15-25% lower than coastal markets, making sponsorship more affordable for local employers. Level 1 software developer wages in Boise start around $65,000-75,000, while specialized roles like machine learning engineers command higher prevailing wages. This cost advantage encourages more Idaho employers to consider visa sponsorship.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored technology jobs in Idaho?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
