Which companies in Illinois sponsor visas for accounting analysts?
Large Chicago-based employers with consistent H-1B sponsorship records for accounting and finance roles include United Airlines, Morningstar, Hyatt Hotels, Baxter International, and Abbott Laboratories. The Big Four accounting firms (Deloitte, PwC, EY, KPMG) also maintain significant Illinois presences and regularly sponsor foreign national hires at their Chicago offices. DOL Labor Condition Application disclosure data is the most reliable way to verify which employers have filed for these roles.
What visa types are most common for accounting analyst roles in Illinois?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for accounting analyst positions in Illinois, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. OPT and STEM OPT extensions are also frequently used by recent graduates from Illinois universities before transitioning to H-1B sponsorship. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may qualify for TN visa status under the accountant category.
Which cities in Illinois have the most accounting analyst visa sponsorship jobs?
Chicago accounts for the overwhelming majority of accounting analyst sponsorship opportunities in Illinois, driven by its concentration of corporate headquarters, financial services firms, and professional services offices in the Loop, River North, and Schaumburg corridors. Smaller markets like Deerfield, Lake Forest, and Peoria do have opportunities tied to specific corporate campuses, but Chicago is where sponsoring employers are most active and job volume is highest for this role.
How to find accounting analyst visa sponsorship jobs in Illinois?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find accounting analyst roles in Illinois where employers are open to visa sponsorship, with filters that let you narrow results by role and state. Beyond browsing Migrate Mate, it helps to focus your applications on employers with a documented history of H-1B or OPT sponsorship in Illinois, which you can cross-reference using DOL LCA disclosure data to confirm prior filings for accounting and finance job titles.
Are there any Illinois-specific factors that affect accounting analyst sponsorship?
Illinois follows federal prevailing wage requirements for H-1B positions, so sponsoring employers must pay at least the DOL-determined wage level for accounting analysts in the Chicago-Naperville-Elgin metropolitan area. The University of Illinois, Northwestern, DePaul, and Loyola Chicago produce significant accounting graduate pipelines, meaning many Illinois employers are accustomed to sponsoring F-1 OPT holders transitioning to H-1B. Illinois has no state-level immigration restrictions that affect private employer sponsorship decisions.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored accounting analyst jobs in Illinois?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
