Responsibilities
- Design and maintain semantic models, metrics, business definitions, and governed analytical datasets.
- Build and configure user-facing analytical experiences, including Databricks Genie spaces, dashboards, and fit-for-purpose notebooks.
- Translate common user questions and workflows into reliable queries, calculations, prompts, and interaction patterns.
- Partner with Data Engineers to resolve data-model, quality, performance, and access issues affecting the user experience.
- Work with the Systems Analyst, data champions, and users to validate usefulness, accuracy, and ease of use.
- Monitor usage, answer quality, and adoption; maintain documentation and recommend iterative improvements.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as an engineer
- Must have advanced SQL skills and strong dimensional, semantic, or metrics-layer modeling experience.
- Experience with Databricks and modern BI or analytical-consumption tools; experience with Genie or natural-language analytics
- Able to build out backend pipe, perform frontend configuration
- Ability to evaluate analytical accuracy, explainability, and usability rather than relying only on successful query execution.
- Working knowledge of data quality, access control, performance optimization, and version-controlled analytics development.
- Strong communication and facilitation skills with business users and domain experts.
- Self-driven and curious by nature, comfortable researching and getting up to speed on new tools, data sets, and domains independently rather than requiring formal training.
