Which companies in Illinois sponsor visas for engineering program managers?
Several large Illinois employers have documented histories of sponsoring work visas for engineering program managers, including Motorola Solutions, Abbott Laboratories, Boeing, Caterpillar, Baxter International, and Zebra Technologies. These companies file Labor Condition Applications regularly for this role type. Consulting and technology firms such as Accenture and Deloitte, with significant Illinois operations, also appear in federal sponsorship records for engineering program management positions.
What visa types are most commonly used for engineering program manager roles in Illinois?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for engineering program managers in Illinois, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field, meeting the specialty occupation standard. Candidates with multinational backgrounds may also be sponsored under the L-1A or L-1B categories. Australian citizens specifically may find the E-3 visa a viable path with participating Illinois employers.
How to find engineering program manager visa sponsorship jobs in Illinois?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters engineering program manager roles in Illinois by verified sponsorship history, saving you from sifting through listings where sponsorship is unclear. You can search by role and state to surface Illinois-specific openings at companies with active LCA filings. This is considerably more targeted than general job searches when you need confirmed sponsorship support.
Which cities in Illinois have the most engineering program manager sponsorship jobs?
Chicago accounts for the largest concentration of engineering program manager sponsorship activity in Illinois, driven by its corporate headquarters, technology sector, and consulting firms. The broader Chicagoland suburbs, including Downers Grove, Libertyville, and Hoffman Estates, are notable given the presence of companies like Caterpillar's technology divisions and Motorola Solutions. Peoria is relevant for candidates targeting heavy manufacturing and industrial engineering program roles.
Are there any Illinois-specific factors that affect visa sponsorship for engineering program managers?
Illinois has a well-developed pipeline of engineering talent from universities including the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Northwestern, and Illinois Institute of Technology, which means some employers already have established international hiring and sponsorship processes. The Department of Labor's prevailing wage requirements apply to all H-1B sponsorships and are calculated based on the specific metropolitan area, so Chicago-area roles and downstate Illinois roles may reflect different wage level benchmarks under the same title.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored engineering program manager jobs in Illinois?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
