Which companies sponsor visas for program development managers in Illinois?
Chicago-based employers with established sponsorship track records for program development managers include Northwestern University, University of Chicago, Rush University Medical Center, Accenture, and United Airlines. Large nonprofits such as the Chicago Community Trust and YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago also hire for these roles. Employers with dedicated HR and legal infrastructure are generally the most consistent sponsors for this position type.
Which visa types are most common for program development manager roles in Illinois?
The H-1B is the most common visa for program development managers in Illinois, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree in education, public administration, business, or a related field, meeting the specialty occupation standard. Candidates from Australia may qualify for the E-3, and Canadian and Mexican nationals can explore TN status if the role aligns with eligible TN occupation categories. L-1 transfers are also used when candidates move within multinational organizations.
Which cities in Illinois have the most program development manager sponsorship jobs?
Chicago accounts for the overwhelming majority of program development manager sponsorship opportunities in Illinois, driven by its concentration of universities, hospital systems, large nonprofits, and corporate headquarters. Evanston is a secondary hub due to Northwestern University's significant program development activity. Naperville and Oak Brook see some corporate training and development hiring, but Chicago-proper dominates the sponsorship market for this role.
How to find program development manager visa sponsorship jobs in Illinois?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it easier to identify Illinois employers actively hiring program development managers who will support visa applications. Rather than sorting through general job postings, you can search by role and state to surface companies with a documented history of sponsoring this position type. Creating a profile on Migrate Mate lets you track new Illinois program development manager openings as they appear.
Are there state-specific considerations for program development manager sponsorship in Illinois?
Illinois employers sponsoring H-1B workers must pay the prevailing wage as determined by the Department of Labor for the Chicago-Naperville-Elgin metropolitan area, which sets the wage floor for this role in the region. Illinois has a strong university-to-employer pipeline, particularly through University of Illinois, Northwestern, and DePaul, which means many sponsoring employers in this state are already familiar with hiring international candidates into program development roles.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored program development manager jobs in Illinois?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
