Which companies sponsor visas for solutions architects in Illinois?
Large consulting firms and enterprise technology employers are among the most active sponsors in Illinois. Accenture, Deloitte, Infosys, and Tata Consultancy Services have consistent H-1B visa filing histories for solutions architect roles in the Chicago metro. Cloud platform companies, financial institutions like Northern Trust and CME Group, and healthcare technology firms also sponsor regularly, particularly for roles tied to cloud migration or enterprise architecture programs.
Which visa types are most common for solutions architect roles in Illinois?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for solutions architects in Illinois, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field. L-1A and L-1B visas appear frequently for intracompany transfers within global consulting and technology firms. O-1 visas are less common but used occasionally for candidates with demonstrated industry recognition.
Which cities in Illinois have the most solutions architect sponsorship jobs?
Chicago accounts for the overwhelming majority of solutions architect sponsorship opportunities in Illinois, particularly in the Loop, River North, and Schaumburg corridors where major consulting and enterprise technology firms are headquartered. Naperville and Downers Grove also have a notable presence due to their concentration of financial services and healthcare IT employers. Outside the Chicago metro, sponsorship opportunities drop off significantly.
How to find solutions architect visa sponsorship jobs in Illinois?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search for solutions architect roles in Illinois without sorting through positions that won't support work authorization. The platform surfaces openings from employers with documented sponsorship histories in the state, including consulting firms and enterprise technology companies active in Chicago. Filtering by location and role title on Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find relevant openings.
Are there any Illinois-specific considerations for solutions architects seeking visa sponsorship?
Illinois employers filing H-1B petitions for solutions architects must meet Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements, which are benchmarked to the Chicago-Naperville-Elgin metropolitan area and tend to reflect a high-cost technology market. The University of Illinois system and Northwestern University produce a significant pipeline of international graduates who pursue solutions architect roles locally, meaning competition for sponsored positions in Chicago can be meaningful. Roles at consulting firms often involve client site work across multiple Illinois locations, which employers must account for in their Labor Condition Applications.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored solutions architect jobs in Illinois?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
