Job Description:

The Senior Staff Engineer is responsible for the development and deployment of strategic electronic controls solutions. It includes customer, product and system-level requirements development and validation. Must be capable of effectively assessing and mitigating risk across all levels and multiple disciplines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop specifications, statements of work, and action plans to source, design, develop, and release electro-mechanical components for conventional and electrified propulsion systems
• Develop, oversee, and serve as a subject matter expert on the execution of validation plans for components and systems in laboratory, test cell, vehicle environments and with suppliers
• Prepare and present technical status reports, schedules, and budgets for a variety of audiences including Executive Staff
• Proactively identify gaps and risks in the design and validation of the components and develop/support/track mitigation plans
• Provide a high level of oversight and guidance in the root cause investigation and resolution of field issues as opportunities with fielded products arise
• Exercise project leadership in system integration with control systems engineering teams
• Provide advanced product technical support to suppliers, customers and cross functional departments

Key Performance Measures:

• Decision-making characteristics for the Electromechanical components with suppliers, source of supply issues, continuous improvements, and New Product Development initiatives
• Deliver quality validated components per project milestones
• Provide programmatic leadership that optimize cost, quality and timing constraints
• Frequently sought out as a resource by other team members and/or functions as a mentor to guide decision making and action plans

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or similar engineering discipline

Proven and successful record of working autonomously within established practices and procedures

Experience:

20+ years of experience with developing electronic control system hardware

Experience in the Automotive and Commercial Vehicle applications

Experience with DVP&R development.

- Senior Electro-Mechanical Engineer that provides component design recommendations and development support
- Consistently delivers a high level of oversight and guidance with suppliers and cross functional teams for source of supply and warranty issues
- Frequently works with cross functional teams for component obsolescence resourcing activities
- Broad exposure and partnerships with various levels across the organization up through Executive Staff

Budget: Ability to manage a small component specific budget.

Management scope: No direct reports

Interactions:

- External interactions with suppliers
- Internal interactions within engineering and across functions at various levels of the organization
- This position must informally lead & mentor other ECH engineers to build organizational capability
- Exposure: Engineering, Service, Quality, Ops, Purchasing, Planning, MSS, Supplier, External Customers
- Broad exposure and partnerships with various levels across the organization up through Executive Staff

Location scope of responsibility: Locally

Travel or Physical Demands:

Some travel may be required (Up to 25%)
