INTRODUCTION
Join our team as a Project Engineer, where you’ll play a hands-on role in delivering innovative engineering solutions. At ENTRUST Solutions Group, we’re proud to be an industry leader in engineering and consulting services—helping modernize, protect, and strengthen critical infrastructure. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys ownership, collaboration, and seeing their designs come to life in real-world industrial environments.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
We’re seeking an Electrical Project Engineer with experience in low to medium voltage power systems, particularly within industrial or plant settings. You’ll lead detailed design efforts across complex projects, performing engineering calculations and power system studies (arc flash, short circuit, coordination) while working closely with designers to produce high-quality drawing packages. Your background in industrial facilities will be key as you design around existing systems, site constraints, and operational needs.
In addition to technical design, you’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams—including civil/structural, protection & controls, and automation—to deliver cohesive solutions. You’ll also engage with clients through site visits and project discussions, while having opportunities to mentor junior team members and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
This role is designated as remote, giving you the flexibility to primarily work from home while staying actively connected to your team and projects. We value collaboration and responsiveness, so we ask our remote team members to be available when in-office presence is needed—such as for client meetings, team events, or training sessions. This role may also require occasional travel for fieldwork or site visits depending on the project need.
WHAT WE OFFER:
- A supportive and inclusive work environment that values diversity and encourages innovation.
- Opportunities for professional growth and career development.
- Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package, including generous paid time off, 401(k) with company match, tuition reimbursement, and flexible work schedules.
- This position pays between $90,000 and $100,000 annually and is an exempt position. Benefits offered include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) plan with company match. Also offered are tuition reimbursement, voluntary life, disability, critical illness, accident and hospitalization plans. HSA or FSA medical accounts and FSA dependent care and transportation/parking accounts are also available. These benefits are subject to employee contribution amounts generally set annually. Full-time employees are eligible to earn PTO hours. May be eligible for discretionary bonus as determined by the company.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution.
- Experience with electrical modeling and simulation tools (ETAP, SKM, or EasyPower).
- Experience in one or more industries such as refining, chemical/petrochemical, power generation, or manufacturing.
- 5+ years of relevant engineering experience.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Professional Engineer (PE) License.

Which companies sponsor visas for project engineers in Kentucky?
Several large employers in Kentucky have established track records of H-1B visa sponsorship for engineering roles. Toyota Manufacturing in Georgetown, Ford's truck assembly operations in Louisville, Nucor Steel, and LG&E and KU Energy are among the notable sponsors. Large engineering consulting firms with Kentucky offices, including HNTB and Atkins, have also sponsored project engineers through H-1B petitions in recent years.
Which visa types are most common for project engineers in Kentucky?
The H-1B is the most common visa for project engineers in Kentucky, as the role consistently qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in engineering. Canadian and Mexican nationals may qualify for TN visa status under the engineer category, which requires no lottery and allows relatively straightforward employer sponsorship. Some positions at universities or nonprofits may qualify for cap-exempt H-1B petitions.
Which cities in Kentucky have the most project engineer sponsorship jobs?
Louisville is Kentucky's primary hub for project engineer sponsorship jobs, driven by its concentration of manufacturing, logistics, and infrastructure firms. Lexington follows closely, supported by Toyota's nearby Georgetown plant and a cluster of engineering and energy companies. Bowling Green and Elizabethtown are growing markets, particularly tied to automotive manufacturing expansions and new battery production facilities attracting engineering talent.
How to find project engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Kentucky?
Migrate Mate is a practical starting point for international candidates searching for project engineer roles in Kentucky that include visa sponsorship. The platform filters specifically for sponsorship-open positions, which saves time compared to manually screening job listings. Focusing your search on manufacturing, energy, and civil infrastructure sectors reflects where Kentucky's sponsoring employers are most active for project engineer hiring.
Are there state-specific factors that affect visa sponsorship for project engineers in Kentucky?
Kentucky's heavy reliance on manufacturing, particularly automotive, has created sustained demand for project engineers with process and industrial backgrounds. The University of Kentucky and University of Louisville produce engineering graduates who sometimes transition to sponsored roles, giving employers familiarity with international hiring pipelines. Prevailing wage requirements apply statewide under H-1B rules, and employers in Kentucky's lower cost-of-living markets must still meet federally determined wage levels for the role and location.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored project engineer jobs in Kentucky?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
