Which companies in Iowa sponsor visas for business development associates?
Financial services and insurance firms are among the most active sponsors for business development associate roles in Iowa. Principal Financial Group and Nationwide (with Iowa operations) have filed H-1B petitions for business development positions. Agriculture technology companies like Corteva Agriscience and manufacturing-adjacent firms such as Collins Aerospace also appear in Department of Labor disclosure data for comparable roles. Sponsorship activity is most concentrated in the Des Moines metro.
What visa types are most common for business development associate roles in Iowa?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for business development associates in Iowa, provided the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as business, marketing, or a related discipline. TN status is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals if the role fits an eligible USMCA category. Some candidates enter through OPT or STEM OPT extensions before transitioning to employer-sponsored status.
Which cities in Iowa have the most business development associate sponsorship jobs?
Des Moines is Iowa's primary hiring hub for business development associates, driven by its concentration of financial services, insurance, and healthcare companies. Cedar Rapids supports roles in manufacturing, technology services, and logistics, with employers like Quaker Oats and Transamerica maintaining operations there. Iowa City sees some demand tied to the University of Iowa's research and healthcare network. Smaller markets like Davenport and Ames have limited but growing activity.
How to find business development associate visa sponsorship jobs in Iowa?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship eligibility, making it practical to search for business development associate roles in Iowa without sorting through positions that don't sponsor. You can filter by state to focus on Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, or Iowa City employers. Migrate Mate's database is built around international job seekers, so the listings reflect companies with active sponsorship histories rather than general postings.
Are there any Iowa-specific considerations for business development associates seeking visa sponsorship?
Iowa's prevailing wage requirements for H-1B petitions are determined by the Department of Labor using local wage data, and Des Moines typically has lower prevailing wages than coastal metros, which can affect offer competitiveness for international candidates. The University of Iowa and Iowa State University generate a pipeline of international graduates in business and related fields, so some Iowa employers are familiar with OPT and H-1B processes. Roles in agriculture technology represent a distinctive Iowa-specific hiring pocket not common in other states.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored business development associate jobs in Iowa?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
