Which consulting companies sponsor visas in Iowa?
Principal Financial Group in Des Moines frequently sponsors H-1B visas for actuarial and technology consultants. Casey's General Stores sponsors IT and business consultants, while Hy-Vee and UnityPoint Health sponsor healthcare and operations consultants. Mid-size firms like Aureon and ITC Holdings also sponsor visas for specialized consulting roles across Iowa's major metropolitan areas.
How to find consulting visa sponsorship jobs in Iowa?
Start with Migrate Mate to browse consulting positions specifically filtered for Iowa employers who sponsor work visas. Focus on Des Moines and Cedar Rapids where most sponsoring consulting firms are located. Target insurance, healthcare, and agricultural technology companies that frequently need specialized consulting expertise and have established visa sponsorship programs for international professionals.
Which visa types are most common for consulting roles in Iowa?
H-1B visas dominate Iowa consulting sponsorship, especially for IT consultants, business analysts, and management consultants with specialized degrees. O-1 visas occasionally apply for senior strategy consultants with exceptional expertise. L-1 transfers occur when multinational consulting firms move employees to Iowa offices, particularly in Des Moines' financial services sector.
Which cities in Iowa have the most consulting sponsorship jobs?
Des Moines leads with insurance and financial services consulting roles, housing Principal Financial, EMC Insurance, and numerous smaller consultancies. Cedar Rapids follows with technology and manufacturing consulting positions. Davenport offers healthcare consulting opportunities, while Iowa City provides university-adjacent research and advisory roles through connections with the University of Iowa.
What are prevailing wage considerations for consulting roles in Iowa?
Iowa's lower cost of living results in prevailing wages typically 15-25% below coastal markets, but still meets H-1B requirements for most consulting positions. Management consultants in Des Moines average higher prevailing wages due to financial services demand, while IT consultants in smaller cities may see lower but still viable wage levels for visa sponsorship purposes.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored consulting jobs in Iowa?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
