About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Certified Surgical Technologist to support operating room procedures at a Level III Trauma Center. The selected candidate will function as a scrub person and work closely with surgeons, registered nurses, sterile processing staff, and other members of the surgical team.
Responsibilities
- Prepare case carts, instruments, supplies, and equipment according to preference cards.
- Maintain a safe and sterile operating room environment.
- Assist surgeons and nursing staff during invasive procedures.
- Coordinate instrumentation with the OR and sterile processing teams.
- Support surgical room turnover and scheduled or emergency cases.
- Perform First Assistant duties when assigned and qualified.
- Participate in call, weekend, and after-hours coverage as required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or equivalent military training.
- Active Certified Surgical Technologist certification.
- Current American Heart Association BLS.
- Acute-care operating room experience preferred.
- For First Assistant duties:
+ Certified Surgical First Assistant certification.
+ Associate degree in Surgical Technology or equivalent training.
+ Minimum three years of operating room experience.
- Must live at least 90 miles from the facility.
Important Contract Conditions
- The facility may cancel up to three shifts during the 13-week contract because of low census or unforeseen circumstances.
- First Assistant hours are not guaranteed.
- A $5 differential applies only to hours worked as a First Assistant.
- On-call coverage may be required.
