Which companies sponsor visas for finance managers in Iowa?
Des Moines-based financial services firms are the most active sponsors for finance manager roles in Iowa. Principal Financial Group, Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, and Nationwide have documented H-1B sponsorship histories. Beyond insurance, agribusiness companies like Corteva Agriscience and regional banks including MidWestOne and FBSBT also hire finance managers and have supported visa sponsorship for qualified international candidates.
Which visa types are most common for finance manager roles in Iowa?
The H-1B is the most common visa for finance managers in Iowa, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field. Candidates with an MBA or CPA designation strengthen their petition. Australians may also be eligible for the E-3 visa, which has no lottery and is specific to that nationality.
Which cities in Iowa have the most finance manager sponsorship jobs?
Des Moines accounts for the vast majority of finance manager visa sponsorship activity in Iowa. Its concentration of insurance carriers, financial services firms, and corporate headquarters creates sustained demand. Cedar Rapids is a secondary market, with employers in manufacturing and regional banking occasionally sponsoring finance manager roles. Iowa City, home to the University of Iowa, generates some demand through healthcare and university-affiliated organizations.
How to find finance manager visa sponsorship jobs in Iowa?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search finance manager roles in Iowa without manually screening out employers who won't sponsor. The platform surfaces positions from companies with active H-1B and E-3 sponsorship histories in the state. Filtering by Des Moines and Cedar Rapids will return the highest concentration of relevant results for finance manager candidates.
Are there any Iowa-specific considerations for finance managers seeking visa sponsorship?
Iowa follows federal Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements for H-1B petitions, so sponsoring employers must certify they're paying the wage level appropriate to the role and region. Des Moines wages are benchmarked separately from rural Iowa, which affects the LCA your employer files. The University of Iowa and Iowa State University also produce accounting and finance graduates who sometimes transition to sponsored roles through OPT, creating a local pipeline that employers are familiar with navigating.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored finance manager jobs in Iowa?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
