Which companies sponsor visas for personal assistants in Iowa?
Iowa's largest visa-sponsoring employers for support staff roles include UnityPoint Health, MercyOne, the University of Iowa, Iowa State University, and major insurers like Principal Financial Group and Transamerica, both headquartered in Des Moines. These organizations have established HR and legal infrastructure to support H-1B visa and other nonimmigrant visa petitions, making them more likely to sponsor qualified international candidates than smaller private employers.
Which visa types are most common for personal assistant roles in Iowa?
Personal assistant roles in Iowa most commonly use the H-1B visa when the position qualifies as a specialty occupation, typically requiring a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as business administration or communications. Candidates already authorized to work in the U.S., such as those on OPT or a dependent EAD, are often considered without requiring employer-sponsored petitions. TN visa status is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professional categories.
Which cities in Iowa have the most personal assistant sponsorship jobs?
Des Moines concentrates the highest number of personal assistant sponsorship opportunities in Iowa, driven by its financial services sector, insurance industry headquarters, and state government offices. Iowa City follows, anchored by the University of Iowa and its affiliated health system. Cedar Rapids offers additional opportunities through its corporate and logistics sectors. Smaller markets like Davenport and Sioux City have fewer sponsoring employers overall.
How to find personal assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Iowa?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find personal assistant roles in Iowa where employers are open to visa sponsorship. The platform filters positions specifically by sponsorship availability, saving time compared to sorting through general postings. Focusing your search on Iowa's larger institutional employers, including university systems and healthcare networks, improves your odds since these organizations have established immigration support processes already in place.
Are there state-specific considerations for personal assistants seeking sponsorship in Iowa?
Iowa follows federal prevailing wage requirements for sponsored roles, so employers must document that compensation meets Department of Labor standards for the relevant occupation and region. Personal assistant positions at Iowa's public universities may also be subject to state hiring procedures that add processing time. Candidates should confirm early in the hiring process whether the role is classified in a way that supports a specialty occupation visa petition, as job titles and duties can vary significantly between employers.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored personal assistant jobs in Iowa?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
