Which companies sponsor visas for strategy roles in Iowa?
Principal Financial Group, Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, Collins Aerospace, and Transamerica are among Iowa employers that have sponsored visas for professional and strategy-oriented roles. Regional consulting firms and large agricultural companies with corporate strategy functions also appear in sponsorship records. Sponsorship availability varies by company size, hiring cycle, and role specifics, so checking employer H-1B disclosure data is a useful starting point.
Which visa types are most common for strategy roles in Iowa?
The H-1B is the most common visa for strategy roles in Iowa, covering positions like strategic planning manager, business strategy analyst, and corporate development associate where a relevant bachelor's degree or higher is required. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may qualify for TN status if the role maps to a USMCA-recognized occupation. Those with extraordinary achievement in their field may explore the O-1A, though it has a higher evidentiary bar.
Which cities in Iowa have the most strategy sponsorship jobs?
Des Moines is by far the strongest market for strategy sponsorship jobs in Iowa, driven by its concentration of insurance, financial services, and corporate headquarters. Cedar Rapids supports strategy roles through manufacturing and logistics companies such as Quaker Oats and Rockwell Collins. Iowa City has a smaller but active market tied to the University of Iowa health system and associated research and planning functions.
How to find strategy visa sponsorship jobs in Iowa?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters strategy roles in Iowa by visa sponsorship history, so you can focus on employers who have actually sponsored before. Search by role type and state to surface relevant openings at Iowa-based companies. Cross-referencing Department of Labor LCA disclosure data alongside Migrate Mate listings helps you assess which employers are actively filing for strategy positions.
Are there any Iowa-specific factors that affect strategy visa sponsorship?
Iowa's lower cost of living means prevailing wage requirements for strategy roles may differ from coastal markets, which can make sponsorship more financially accessible for some employers. Iowa does not have state-level visa or immigration programs, so federal pathways apply uniformly. The University of Iowa and Iowa State University produce graduates in business and public policy who sometimes transition into strategy roles through OPT, creating a local pipeline that some employers are already familiar with.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored strategy jobs in Iowa?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
