What is Accounting Policy? Accounting Policy is the team that determines the right accounting treatment for Security Benefit’s most complex, new, or unusual transactions, and how new accounting standards apply to the company. It interprets FASB and NAIC guidance, sets the company’s position on emerging issues, and helps partner teams apply that guidance consistently. It’s the “how do we account for this, and why” function.
- Use AI tools and agents to help build and organize a technical accounting knowledge repository, capturing research, precedent, and accounting positions in a structured, searchable format
- Gain exposure to emerging U.S. GAAP and Statutory accounting guidance (FASB, NAIC) by supporting research on real transactions
- Assist with maintaining and enhancing regulatory tracking tools and summaries for internal stakeholders
- Provide support on PBBD (Principles-Based Bond Definition) initiatives, including documentation of decision frameworks and onboarding considerations
- Assist in drafting summaries and supporting materials for accounting policy memos and internal presentations
- Help document and streamline Accounting Policy processes and procedures, including how the team uses AI tools day to day
- Participate in cross-functional discussions (as appropriate) to gain exposure to investment accounting, financial reporting, and actuarial impacts

Which companies sponsor visas for accounting associates in Kansas?
Larger employers with established HR and legal infrastructure are the most consistent sponsors. In Kansas, that includes companies like Spirit AeroSystems in Wichita, Cerner (now Oracle Health) in the Kansas City metro, and regional financial institutions such as INTRUST Bank. Public accounting firms operating in Wichita and Overland Park also sponsor H-1B visas for accounting associates when the role meets specialty occupation requirements.
Which visa types are most common for accounting associate roles in Kansas?
The H-1B is the most common visa for accounting associates in Kansas, as roles requiring a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance generally qualify as specialty occupations. Candidates from Australia may pursue the E-3 visa, and Canadian and Mexican nationals may qualify under the TN visa category, which explicitly lists accountants as an eligible profession. F-1 OPT and STEM OPT are also used by recent graduates during their initial work authorization period.
How to find accounting associate visa sponsorship jobs in Kansas?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship and lets you filter accounting associate roles by state, including Kansas. Because sponsorship willingness is not always listed in standard job postings, using a platform focused on verified sponsoring employers saves significant time. Searching Migrate Mate for accounting associate positions in Kansas surfaces employers in Wichita, Overland Park, and the broader Kansas City metro who have a documented history of sponsoring work visas.
Which cities in Kansas have the most accounting associate sponsorship jobs?
Overland Park and Kansas City (Kansas side) generate the highest volume of accounting associate openings due to the concentration of corporate headquarters, financial services firms, and healthcare organizations in the Johnson County corridor. Wichita is the second major hub, driven by its large aviation and manufacturing sector. Smaller markets like Topeka and Lawrence see occasional openings, primarily through government agencies and the University of Kansas system.
Are there any Kansas-specific considerations for accounting associate visa sponsorship?
Kansas employers sponsoring H-1B accounting associates must meet the Department of Labor prevailing wage for the specific metropolitan area, which differs between the Wichita and Kansas City metro regions. The University of Kansas and Kansas State University both produce international accounting graduates who enter the local job market on OPT, creating a recognized pipeline that some Kansas employers are already familiar with and prepared to sponsor. Roles in publicly regulated industries such as utilities and banking tend to have more formalized sponsorship processes.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored accounting associate jobs in Kansas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
