Which companies sponsor visas for cloud software engineers in Kansas?
Garmin, headquartered in Olathe, and Oracle Health (formerly Cerner) in Kansas City are among the most active H-1B visa sponsors for cloud software engineers in Kansas. Cerner historically filed a high volume of H-1B petitions for technical roles. Agribusiness technology companies and logistics firms in the Wichita area also sponsor cloud engineering talent, though at lower volumes than the major tech-focused employers.
Which visa types are most common for cloud software engineer roles in Kansas?
The H-1B is the most common visa for cloud software engineers in Kansas, as the role consistently qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field. Employers must file a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor before petitioning USCIS. Some candidates also enter on F-1 OPT or STEM OPT before transitioning to H-1B sponsorship through their employer.
Which cities in Kansas have the most cloud software engineer sponsorship jobs?
The Kansas City metro area, particularly Overland Park and Olathe on the Kansas side, concentrates the most cloud engineering sponsorship activity. Garmin and Oracle Health anchor that corridor. Wichita has a smaller but active tech presence tied to aviation, manufacturing, and agribusiness software. Lawrence, home to the University of Kansas, produces engineering graduates but has fewer direct sponsoring employers compared to the Kansas City suburbs.
How to find cloud software engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Kansas?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to find cloud software engineer roles in Kansas without sorting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. You can search by role and state to surface active listings from employers like Garmin and Oracle Health. Migrate Mate focuses exclusively on international candidates, so listings are curated for people who need work authorization support.
Are there state-specific considerations for cloud software engineers seeking sponsorship in Kansas?
Kansas does not have state-level visa programs, so federal H-1B rules apply uniformly. One practical consideration is that the Kansas City metro straddles the Kansas-Missouri border, meaning some sponsoring employers are technically headquartered in Missouri but operate large Kansas offices. Candidates should confirm the worksite address, as the prevailing wage determination is tied to the physical work location, not the employer's headquarters. University of Kansas and Kansas State University pipelines feed talent into regional employers.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored cloud software engineer jobs in Kansas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
