Search Transportation Jobs in KansasTransportation STEM OPT Sponsorship Jobs in Kansas: Frequently Asked Questions
Which transportation companies sponsor F-1 STEM OPT visas in Kansas?
Kansas transportation employers with documented STEM OPT sponsorship history include BNSF Railway (operations and logistics analytics roles in Kansas City), YRC Worldwide (now Estes Freight, headquartered in Overland Park), and Koch Industries' subsidiary logistics operations in Wichita. Smaller third-party logistics firms along the I-70 and I-35 corridors have also filed Labor Condition Applications for supply chain engineering and data analytics positions qualifying under STEM-designated STEM degree classifications.
Which cities in Kansas have the most transportation F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs?
Kansas City (Kansas side) and Overland Park account for the largest share of transportation STEM OPT sponsorship activity, driven by proximity to major freight hubs and logistics company headquarters. Wichita follows as the state's second-largest market, with aviation-adjacent logistics and supply chain roles. Lawrence and Topeka have a smaller but active presence tied to state government transportation projects and regional distribution networks.
What types of transportation roles typically qualify for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship?
Roles that most consistently qualify under STEM-designated STEM degree classifications in transportation include transportation engineers, supply chain analysts, logistics operations researchers, GIS transportation specialists, and data scientists working on fleet optimization or route modeling. Positions requiring a bachelor's or advanced degree in industrial engineering, computer science, operations research, or a related STEM field align with USCIS and ICE STEM OPT extension eligibility requirements. General freight dispatching or driver coordination roles typically do not qualify.
How do I find transportation F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs in Kansas?
Migrate Mate filters transportation jobs in Kansas specifically by verified F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship history, using DOL Labor Condition Application data to surface employers who have filed for STEM-eligible roles in the state. This removes the guesswork of cold-applying to companies with no documented sponsorship activity. You can filter by city, role type, and STEM degree classification to identify positions in supply chain engineering, transportation analytics, and logistics operations across Wichita, Overland Park, and the Kansas City metro.
Are there state-specific considerations for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship in Kansas transportation?
Kansas does not impose additional state-level work authorization requirements beyond federal STEM OPT rules, but transportation employers in the state frequently operate under federal contractor status, which triggers E-Verify enrollment requirements. E-Verify participation is actually required for STEM OPT employers under ICE regulations, so most qualifying Kansas transportation companies are already enrolled. The state's central location and heavy freight infrastructure mean many roles involve interstate commerce, which can affect job duty descriptions relevant to STEM OPT eligibility determinations.
