Which healthcare companies sponsor F-1 STEM OPT visas in Kansas?
The largest healthcare employers with F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship activity in Kansas include the University of Kansas Health System, Stormont Vail Health, Via Christi Health, and the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. Academic medical centers and hospital networks affiliated with the University of Kansas School of Medicine tend to be the most consistent sponsors, particularly for technical and research-oriented roles.
Which cities in Kansas have the most healthcare F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs?
Kansas City and Wichita account for the largest share of healthcare F-1 STEM OPT opportunities in Kansas. Kansas City's concentration of academic medical centers and research institutions drives demand for health informatics and biomedical roles, while Wichita supports a strong hospital employment base through Via Christi and Wesley Medical Center. Topeka and Lawrence also have openings, primarily at regional health systems and university-affiliated facilities.
What types of healthcare roles typically qualify for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship?
Roles that qualify for F-1 STEM OPT in healthcare must fall under a STEM-designated Classification of Instructional Programs code and require a degree in a qualifying STEM field. In Kansas, this commonly includes positions in health informatics, biomedical engineering, clinical data analysis, bioinformatics, public health data science, and medical laboratory science. Direct patient-care roles rarely qualify; the strongest matches are technical, analytical, and engineering-adjacent positions within healthcare organizations.
