Which transportation companies sponsor F-1 STEM OPT visas in New York?
New York transportation employers with documented F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship history include Amazon Logistics, Maersk, Jacobs Engineering, WSP USA, and AECOM. Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and MTA-affiliated contractors have also filed Labor Condition Applications for STEM-eligible roles in systems engineering, operations research, and transportation data analytics. DOL LCA disclosure data shows active filings across logistics technology and infrastructure consulting firms headquartered or operating in the state.
Which cities in New York have the most transportation F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs?
New York City accounts for the largest share of transportation STEM OPT sponsorship activity in the state, particularly in freight logistics, port operations technology, and transportation data roles concentrated in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Albany sees demand from state infrastructure consultancies and DOT project contractors. Buffalo has emerging opportunities tied to cross-border freight logistics with Canada and regional supply chain analytics, given its position on the I-90 corridor near the Peace Bridge crossing.
What types of transportation roles typically qualify for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship?
Roles that typically meet STEM OPT eligibility in transportation are those mapped to STEM-designated CIP codes, including transportation engineering, operations research, logistics data analytics, supply chain systems analysis, and traffic modeling. Positions with job titles such as Transportation Data Analyst, Supply Chain Engineer, Logistics Systems Developer, and Infrastructure Planning Analyst commonly appear in New York LCA filings. The role must be directly tied to a STEM degree field; general dispatch or driver-coordination positions do not typically qualify.
How do I find transportation F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate lets you filter specifically for transportation employers in New York that have active F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship history, using verified DOL LCA filing data. Rather than guessing which companies sponsor, you can search by role type, location, and visa category to see which New York transportation firms have filed for STEM OPT workers. This is especially useful for targeting logistics technology, freight analytics, and infrastructure engineering roles where sponsorship history is a reliable indicator of employer willingness.
Are there any state-specific considerations for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship in New York transportation jobs?
New York requires STEM OPT employers to be enrolled in E-Verify, which is a federal requirement applicable nationwide, but the state's large number of public-sector transportation contractors adds a layer of consideration. Some roles with the MTA, Port Authority, or DOT-funded projects involve government contracts where security clearance or U.S. citizenship requirements may exclude OPT workers entirely. Confirming the employer's E-Verify enrollment and the role's federal contract status before applying is an important step for New York transportation candidates.
