Which staffing companies sponsor F-1 STEM OPT visas in New York?
National staffing firms with significant New York operations, including Kforce, Insight Global, Apex Group, Randstad, and TEKsystems, are among the most active STEM OPT sponsors in the state. These companies maintain dedicated immigration compliance teams and regularly place STEM OPT candidates at financial services, technology, and consulting clients headquartered in Manhattan and surrounding boroughs. Sponsorship availability varies by role, client, and business need.
Which cities in New York have the most staffing F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs?
Manhattan accounts for the largest share of staffing STEM OPT roles in New York, driven by the density of financial services, consulting, and technology clients in Midtown and Lower Manhattan. The broader New York City metro area, including Long Island City and Jersey City-facing offices, also sees consistent activity. Albany and Buffalo have smaller but growing staffing markets tied to state government technology contracts and regional healthcare systems.
What types of staffing roles typically qualify for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship?
Staffing roles that qualify for STEM OPT sponsorship must be directly tied to a STEM-designated degree and involve substantive work in a technical field. Common qualifying placements include data analyst, business intelligence specialist, IT project coordinator, software QA engineer, and operations research analyst positions. General-purpose recruiting, account management, or sales roles within staffing firms typically do not qualify because they do not map to a STEM Classification of Instructional Programs code.
How do I find staffing F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate lets you filter specifically for staffing companies that have verified STEM OPT sponsorship history in New York, so you can focus on employers who have demonstrated a willingness to sponsor rather than guessing from generic job postings. Because staffing roles require both a qualifying STEM placement and an employer willing to file the I-983 training plan, using a platform built around sponsorship data, like Migrate Mate, significantly narrows your search to actionable opportunities.
Are there any New York-specific considerations for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship in staffing?
New York staffing firms placing STEM OPT candidates at client sites must ensure the client location qualifies as a bona fide work site for E-Verify purposes, since STEM OPT employers are required to be E-Verify participants. New York State also has specific wage and hour laws that apply to staffing arrangements, and prevailing wage requirements set by the DOL must be met for the OPT placement to remain compliant. Candidates placed at financial institutions in New York may also encounter additional background screening timelines.
