Which automotive companies sponsor F-1 STEM OPT visas in New York?
New York's automotive sponsorship activity is concentrated in mobility technology, fleet services, and automotive finance rather than traditional manufacturing. Companies such as GM Financial's New York operations, automotive software firms in Manhattan, and connected-vehicle technology startups have filed Labor Condition Applications for STEM-eligible roles. Reviewing DOL OFLC disclosure data by employer name and occupation code gives a clearer picture of which specific companies have active sponsorship history in New York.
Which cities in New York have the most automotive F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs?
New York City accounts for the largest share of automotive F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship activity in the state, particularly in roles tied to mobility software, fleet analytics, and automotive fintech based in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Buffalo has a smaller but notable cluster linked to automotive parts suppliers and advanced manufacturing. Albany and Rochester also see occasional sponsorship activity from automotive engineering and logistics technology employers operating in those markets.

In the automotive sector this typically includes software engineers working on vehicle telematics or fleet management platforms, data scientists analyzing mobility or supply chain data, electrical engineers supporting connected-vehicle systems, and mechanical engineers in product development or quality assurance. General sales, dealership management, and non-technical operations roles generally do not meet the STEM OPT criteria.

Students should confirm their specific role and degree appear on the STEM designated degree program list maintained by USCIS before accepting an offer.
