Which automotive companies sponsor F-1 STEM OPT visas in Florida?
AutoNation, headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, is one of Florida's largest automotive employers and has hired STEM OPT candidates in technology and operations roles. Daimler Trucks North America operates facilities in the state, as do Tier 1 suppliers and mobility startups concentrated in the Orlando and Tampa corridors. Reviewing DOL Labor Condition Application filings for Florida-based automotive employers gives a reliable picture of active sponsors.
Which cities in Florida have the most automotive F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs?
Miami and Fort Lauderdale lead due to AutoNation's headquarters and a dense network of dealership-group technology operations. Orlando has grown as a hub for connected-vehicle and simulation companies tied to the defense and aerospace ecosystem. Tampa and Jacksonville also offer opportunities at regional distribution, fleet management, and automotive logistics firms that regularly hire STEM OPT graduates in engineering and data roles.
What types of automotive roles typically qualify for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship?
Roles that qualify must fall under a STEM-designated Classification of Instructional Programs code linked to your degree. In automotive, this commonly covers vehicle systems engineering, embedded software development, supply chain analytics, quality assurance engineering, and data science applied to fleet telematics or connected-vehicle platforms. O*NET occupation profiles help confirm whether a specific job title aligns with a STEM-eligible field before you apply.
How do I find automotive F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs in Florida?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa type and state, so you can search for automotive F-1 STEM OPT roles in Florida without manually screening hundreds of postings. Each listing on Migrate Mate reflects employer LCA filing history, helping you identify Florida automotive companies that have actively sponsored STEM OPT candidates rather than those that are simply open to it in theory.
Are there state-specific or industry-specific considerations for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship in Florida's automotive sector?
Florida does not impose state-level work authorization requirements beyond federal F-1 STEM OPT rules, but the state's automotive industry skews toward retail automotive technology, fleet management, and mobility services rather than traditional manufacturing. Employers in these segments may be less familiar with STEM OPT's 24-month extension and E-Verify enrollment requirement, so candidates should confirm early in the hiring process that a prospective employer is enrolled in E-Verify, which is mandatory for STEM OPT authorization.
