Which retail companies sponsor F-1 STEM OPT visas in Florida?
National retailers with significant Florida operations are the most consistent sponsors of F-1 STEM OPT roles. Amazon has fulfillment and tech hubs across the state, Chewy is headquartered in Dania Beach, and Office Depot is based in Boca Raton. These employers regularly hire for data analytics, supply chain engineering, and e-commerce technology roles that qualify under STEM OPT-eligible SOC codes.
Which cities in Florida have the most retail F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs?
Miami leads for retail technology and e-commerce roles given its concentration of corporate offices and proximity to Latin American logistics networks. Orlando is strong for supply chain and operations positions tied to the region's distribution infrastructure. Tampa attracts data and analytics roles from mid-size retail employers. Boca Raton and Dania Beach are worth targeting specifically because of Office Depot's and Chewy's headquarters presence there.
What types of retail roles typically qualify for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship?
Roles must align with a STEM-designated Classification of Instructional Programs code tied to your degree. In retail, qualifying positions typically include supply chain analyst, demand forecasting specialist, e-commerce data analyst, retail technology engineer, and inventory optimization roles. General merchandising, store management, and sales associate positions do not qualify. The role's SOC code must appear on the official STEM OPT designated degree program list maintained by ICE and SEVP.
How do I find retail F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs in Florida?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for F-1 STEM OPT-eligible retail positions in Florida, showing verified employer sponsorship history drawn from DOL Labor Condition Application data. This lets you focus on employers who have actively sponsored international candidates rather than applying broadly and hoping. Search by role type, city, and visa category on Migrate Mate to surface retail openings at companies with a documented track record of STEM OPT support in Florida.
Are there any Florida-specific considerations for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship in retail?
Florida has no state income tax, which affects total compensation comparisons but does not change federal F-1 STEM OPT eligibility rules. Florida's large international student population at schools like University of Florida, University of Miami, and Florida International University means retail employers in the state are generally familiar with STEM OPT paperwork requirements. Employers must be enrolled in E-Verify to sponsor STEM OPT employees, which is separately required for some Florida state contracts.
