Which accounting companies sponsor F-1 STEM OPT visas in Florida?
The Big Four firms, Deloitte, PwC, EY, and KPMG, maintain significant Florida presences and have established histories of sponsoring international accounting graduates. Regional firms like BDO, Grant Thornton, and Marcum also operate Florida offices. Large corporations headquartered or regionally based in Florida, including financial institutions and healthcare companies, hire accounting graduates and have sponsored F-1 STEM OPT extensions, though sponsorship practices vary by firm and by year.
Which cities in Florida have the most accounting F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs?
Miami leads Florida for international accounting hiring, driven by its concentration of multinational corporations, Latin American business connections, and large financial services sector. Tampa is a growing hub, particularly for audit and financial reporting roles tied to its expanding corporate base. Orlando has demand through tourism-sector finance and healthcare accounting. Fort Lauderdale and Jacksonville also have accounting offices from national firms, though at lower volume than Miami and Tampa.
What types of accounting roles typically qualify for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship?
Roles that map to CIP codes recognized under the STEM OPT extension list are the ones to prioritize. Accounting and related analytical roles, including financial analyst, auditor, tax analyst, management accountant, and forensic accountant, can qualify when the position ties to a STEM-designated degree program such as accounting information systems or financial analytics. Standard accounting degrees without a STEM designation may not qualify, so verifying your specific degree's CIP code with your DSO before applying is important.
How do I find accounting F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs in Florida?
Migrate Mate lets you filter specifically for accounting roles in Florida that have F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship history, so you're not sifting through listings from employers who have never sponsored. The platform surfaces DOL Labor Condition Application filing data by employer and role, giving you a verifiable signal of which Florida accounting firms and corporations have actually sponsored international candidates rather than those who simply say they are open to it.
Are there any Florida-specific considerations for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship in accounting?
Florida has no state income tax, which affects how accounting employers structure compensation packages and can influence hiring discussions. Miami's high proportion of bilingual professionals means Spanish fluency is frequently listed as a preferred qualification at firms serving Latin American clients, though it is rarely a formal requirement. Florida also has a large number of international accounting clients due to its trade and financial ties to the Caribbean and South America, which can make international accounting experience a meaningful differentiator for F-1 candidates.
