Which science and research companies sponsor F-1 STEM OPT visas in Florida?
Florida science and research employers with documented F-1 OPT hiring include L3Harris Technologies in Palm Beach County, Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida International University research divisions in Miami, and NASA contractor firms along the Space Coast. Biotech and pharmaceutical companies in the Miami-Dade life sciences corridor have also filed Labor Condition Applications supporting STEM OPT-eligible positions in research and development roles.
Which cities in Florida have the most science and research F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs?
Tampa and the broader Bay Area lead Florida for life sciences and biomedical research OPT hiring, anchored by Moffitt Cancer Center and USF Health. Miami follows with a growing biotech and clinical research sector concentrated in Miami-Dade. The Space Coast cities of Melbourne and Titusville offer aerospace and defense research roles. Gainesville hosts university-affiliated research positions through the University of Florida's research enterprise.
How do I find science & research F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs in Florida?
Migrate Mate filters science and research positions in Florida specifically by verified STEM OPT sponsorship history, so you can identify employers who have actively supported OPT extensions rather than browsing general listings. Search by Florida city and research sub-sector, such as biomedical, aerospace, or environmental science, to narrow results to roles where your 24-month STEM OPT extension timeline is a realistic fit for the employer's hiring process.
What types of science and research roles typically qualify for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship in Florida?
Roles that commonly qualify include research scientist, bioinformatics analyst, environmental scientist, aerospace engineer, clinical research coordinator, and data scientist positions where the job is classified under a STEM-designated degree field per the DHS STEM Designated Degree Program List. Florida employers in life sciences, defense research, and environmental consulting regularly hire for these titles. The specific STEM degree classification tied to the role and your degree field must align for STEM OPT eligibility confirmation by your DSO.
Are there state-specific considerations for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship in science and research roles in Florida?
Florida does not impose additional state licensing requirements that uniquely restrict STEM OPT eligibility for most research roles, though certain clinical research positions may require state-specific certifications. Florida research employers participating in federal contracts, including NASA and Department of Defense contractors along the Space Coast, must be enrolled in E-Verify, which is already an USCIS requirement for all STEM OPT sponsors. Confirm your prospective employer's E-Verify enrollment before accepting a STEM OPT offer.
