Which companies sponsor visas for occupational therapists in Kansas?
The University of Kansas Health System, Stormont Vail Health, Via Christi Health (now Ascension Via Christi), and Wesley Medical Center in Wichita have histories of sponsoring internationally trained therapists. Larger hospital networks and long-term care organizations tend to sponsor more consistently than smaller outpatient clinics, because they have dedicated HR and legal resources to manage the immigration process.
Which visa types are most common for OT roles in Kansas?
The H-1B is the most common visa for occupational therapists in Kansas, as OT qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a master's degree in most cases. Some employers also use the EB-3 immigrant visa pathway for permanent placement. International OTs from Australia may qualify for the E-3 visa. All applicants must hold a valid state license from the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts before starting work.
Which cities in Kansas have the most OT sponsorship jobs?
Wichita has the highest concentration of OT sponsorship opportunities due to its large hospital systems and rehabilitation centers. Kansas City (on the Kansas side) is a close second, particularly near The University of Kansas Health System campus in Kansas City, Kansas. Topeka and Manhattan also have openings, especially in pediatric and school-based therapy settings tied to state and university institutions.
How to find ot visa sponsorship jobs in Kansas?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters OT roles in Kansas by visa sponsorship availability, saving time compared to browsing general job boards. On Migrate Mate, you can narrow results by state, role type, and sponsorship status. Because OT licensing requirements in Kansas are processed through the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts, confirming your credential eligibility before applying helps move employer conversations forward faster.
Are there any state-specific considerations for internationally trained OTs seeking sponsorship in Kansas?
Kansas requires occupational therapists to pass the NBCOT exam and obtain licensure through the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts before practicing, and employers will typically require active licensure before or shortly after your start date. The University of Kansas and Wichita State University produce OT graduates locally, so sponsored candidates often need to differentiate through specialized clinical backgrounds in areas like hand therapy, neurorehabilitation, or pediatrics where local supply is tighter.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored ot jobs in Kansas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
