Which companies sponsor visas for OTs in Missouri?
The most active sponsors for occupational therapists in Missouri are large integrated health systems. BJC HealthCare, SSM Health, Mercy Hospital, and Children's Mercy Hospital have established H-1B visa sponsorship histories. Skilled nursing facilities and rehabilitation networks such as Encompass Health also hire OTs with sponsorship. School districts occasionally sponsor, though the process differs from clinical employers and timelines can be longer.
Which visa types are most common for OT roles in Missouri?
The H-1B is the primary visa for occupational therapists in Missouri, as the role consistently qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a master's degree. Some internationally trained OTs enter on TN visa status if they hold Canadian or Mexican citizenship and meet the classification requirements. EB-3 immigrant visas are also a pathway for OTs whose employers are willing to pursue permanent sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process.
Which cities in Missouri have the most OT sponsorship jobs?
St. Louis accounts for the largest share of OT sponsorship openings in Missouri, driven by its dense concentration of hospitals, rehab centers, and Washington University Medical Campus affiliates. Kansas City is the second-largest market, with strong demand across acute care and pediatric settings. Smaller markets like Springfield and Columbia have openings tied to regional hospital systems, though sponsorship volume there is more limited.
How to find ot visa sponsorship jobs in Missouri?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters OT roles in Missouri by visa sponsorship eligibility, saving you the time of screening employers manually. Search the platform for occupational therapy positions in Missouri and review employer sponsorship histories directly. Focusing on large health systems in St. Louis and Kansas City gives you the best starting point for active sponsorship opportunities.
Are there any Missouri-specific considerations for OTs seeking visa sponsorship?
Missouri requires OTs to hold a state license through the Missouri Division of Professional Registration before practicing, and international candidates must have their credentials evaluated for equivalency with U.S. standards. The National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) exam is a prerequisite for licensure. Washington University in St. Louis and other regional programs create a strong local graduate pipeline, so sponsored roles often go to candidates who can demonstrate specialized clinical experience.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored ot jobs in Missouri?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
