Which companies sponsor visas for OTs in Delaware?
ChristianaCare, Bayhealth Medical Center, and Nemours Children's Health are among the larger Delaware employers with established visa sponsorship programs for occupational therapists. Skilled nursing facilities and outpatient rehabilitation networks operating across New Castle and Kent counties also sponsor OTs, particularly when local candidate pools are thin for specialized pediatric or hand therapy roles.
Which visa types are most common for OT roles in Delaware?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for occupational therapists in Delaware, as OT qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a master's degree under current USCIS standards. The EB-3 employment-based green card is also widely used, especially through PERM labor certification. Some internationally trained OTs enter on TN visa status if they hold Canadian or Mexican citizenship and meet the qualifying credential requirements.
Which cities in Delaware have the most OT sponsorship jobs?
Wilmington accounts for the largest share of OT sponsorship activity in Delaware, driven by ChristianaCare's flagship hospital campus and affiliated outpatient clinics. Dover sees consistent demand through Bayhealth and state-operated facilities. Newark, home to the University of Delaware's health sciences programs, also supports OT hiring, particularly for roles connected to academic medical partnerships and pediatric outpatient care.
How to find ot visa sponsorship jobs in Delaware?
Migrate Mate filters OT job listings in Delaware specifically to roles where employers have a documented history of visa sponsorship, saving you from applying to positions that won't support international candidates. Searching by state and filtering for occupational therapy roles on Migrate Mate surfaces both hospital system openings and smaller outpatient employers across Wilmington, Dover, and Newark that are actively hiring sponsored OTs.
Are there any state-specific considerations for OTs seeking sponsorship in Delaware?
Delaware requires occupational therapists to hold a state license through the Delaware Board of Occupational Therapy Practice before starting work, and licensure typically requires passing the NBCOT exam. Internationally trained OTs should confirm their foreign credentials are evaluated for equivalency early in the process, as employers initiating H-1B or PERM filings will need documentation of credential comparability alongside the license before petitioning USCIS.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored ot jobs in Delaware?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
