Which companies sponsor visas for technical architects in Kansas?
Kansas employers that have sponsored technical architects include Spirit AeroSystems and Garmin in Wichita, along with healthcare systems like the University of Kansas Health System and financial services firms in the Kansas City metro area. Large defense contractors operating in the state also have established H-1B sponsorship programs, particularly for senior technical roles requiring specialized systems architecture expertise.
Which visa types are most common for technical architect roles in Kansas?
The H-1B is the most common visa for technical architects in Kansas, as these roles typically qualify as specialty occupations requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field. Candidates with extraordinary achievement may pursue an O-1A. Those already in the U.S. on F-1 OPT or STEM OPT can also work in these roles while an employer files an H-1B petition on their behalf.
Which cities in Kansas have the most technical architect sponsorship jobs?
Wichita leads Kansas for technical architect sponsorship activity, driven by its aerospace and defense sector, with employers like Spirit AeroSystems and Koch Industries subsidiaries regularly hiring senior technical roles. The Kansas City metro area, straddling the Kansas-Missouri border, is the second major hub, particularly in financial technology, healthcare IT, and enterprise software, where sponsorship for architect-level positions is more common.
How to find technical architect visa sponsorship jobs in Kansas?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to browse technical architect roles in Kansas without sorting through positions that don't offer visa support. Because technical architect openings in Kansas are concentrated in aerospace, defense, and healthcare IT, filtering by those industries on Migrate Mate helps narrow results to employers with active sponsorship programs and relevant technical leadership needs.
Are there any state-specific considerations for technical architects seeking sponsorship in Kansas?
Kansas employers sponsoring H-1B technical architects must meet Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements for the Wichita or Kansas City metro areas, which differ from national figures. The University of Kansas and Kansas State University serve as local talent pipelines, and some graduates transition from OPT into sponsored roles with regional employers. Defense-sector roles may also require security clearance eligibility, which can affect hiring timelines for international candidates.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored technical architect jobs in Kansas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
