Which companies sponsor visas for drivers in Kentucky?
Large logistics and freight companies with Kentucky operations are the most active sponsors for driver roles. Amazon's fulfillment network, UPS's Louisville Worldport hub, and regional carriers operating along the I-65 corridor have sponsored international workers. Sponsorship is more common at large carriers with dedicated HR and legal infrastructure than at smaller owner-operated trucking firms.
Which visa types are most common for driver roles in Kentucky?
The H-2B visa covers temporary non-agricultural workers and is one of the more common pathways for driver roles that meet seasonal or temporary demand. The H-1B visa is generally not applicable to most driving positions, as those roles typically do not meet the specialty occupation requirement. Some drivers also enter through TN visa status if they are Canadian or Mexican nationals in qualifying categories.
Which cities in Kentucky have the most driver sponsorship jobs?
Louisville is the primary hub, driven by its status as UPS's global air operations headquarters and its dense concentration of warehousing and distribution facilities. Lexington supports regional delivery and passenger transport demand. Bowling Green and Elizabethtown also have logistics activity tied to manufacturing supply chains, particularly in the automotive sector along the I-65 industrial corridor.
How to find driver visa sponsorship jobs in Kentucky?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international workers seeking visa sponsorship in the U.S. You can filter directly for driver roles in Kentucky to see employers actively open to sponsoring international candidates. This saves significant time compared to manually screening job postings that rarely disclose sponsorship status upfront. Creating a profile also helps match you to relevant Kentucky driver openings as they appear.
Are there any Kentucky-specific considerations for driver visa sponsorship?
Kentucky requires commercial drivers to hold a valid CDL issued by the Commonwealth, and international workers must ensure their foreign license is properly converted or recognized before operating commercially. The state's logistics industry is closely tied to automotive manufacturing and air freight, meaning demand for drivers can follow production cycles. Prevailing wage requirements still apply to sponsored positions regardless of the specific freight sector.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored driver jobs in Kentucky?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
