Search Technology Jobs in KentuckyTechnology H-1B Sponsorship Jobs in Kentucky: Frequently Asked Questions
Which technology companies in Kentucky sponsor H-1B visas?
Louisville-based Humana is among the most consistent H-1B visa sponsors in Kentucky's technology space, filing petitions for software engineers, data scientists, and IT architects. Other Kentucky employers with H-1B sponsorship history in technology include Tempur Sealy International, Kindred Healthcare, and regional financial institutions with in-house engineering teams. Sponsorship activity is also visible among mid-size consulting and IT services firms operating in the Louisville and Lexington metro areas.
Which cities in Kentucky have the most technology H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Louisville accounts for the largest share of technology H-1B sponsorship activity in Kentucky, driven by its concentration of healthcare technology, logistics software, and financial services firms. Lexington is the second most active city, with a technology hiring base tied to the University of Kentucky's research ecosystem and regional healthcare systems. Smaller but emerging activity exists in Bowling Green and Northern Kentucky, particularly among manufacturers investing in digital operations roles.
What types of technology roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship in Kentucky?
Roles that commonly qualify are those requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific technical field, including software engineers, data analysts, cybersecurity analysts, cloud infrastructure engineers, and systems architects. In Kentucky's market, health informatics roles and enterprise software positions within large healthcare and logistics employers are particularly well represented. General IT support or roles where any unrelated degree satisfies the requirement are less likely to meet the H-1B specialty occupation standard.
How do I find technology H-1B sponsorship jobs in Kentucky?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter by Kentucky, select the H-1B visa type, and browse technology roles from employers with documented sponsorship activity. This removes the guesswork of identifying which Kentucky employers are open to sponsorship, which is often the hardest part of the search. Migrate Mate also surfaces roles across Louisville, Lexington, and other Kentucky metros in a single filtered view.
Are there any Kentucky-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in technology?
Kentucky's technology hiring is heavily anchored in healthcare IT, logistics, and financial services rather than a pure software product ecosystem, so H-1B candidates should expect most sponsoring employers to be large enterprises rather than venture-backed startups. Because the H-1B cap and lottery apply regardless of state, working with an employer willing to file promptly after selection is important. Some Kentucky universities and nonprofit research institutions are cap-exempt, meaning they can file H-1B petitions year-round outside the annual lottery.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B technology jobs in Kentucky?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
