Which technology companies in Idaho sponsor H-1B visas?
Micron Technology is Idaho's most active H-1B sponsor in the technology sector, filing a significant volume of petitions for engineering and semiconductor roles at its Boise headquarters. HP Inc. also maintains a presence in the state. Beyond these larger employers, a number of mid-size software and IT services firms in the Boise metro have filed H-1B petitions, particularly for software engineering and systems administration positions.
Which cities in Idaho have the most technology H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Boise accounts for the vast majority of technology H-1B sponsorship activity in Idaho. As the state capital and largest city, it hosts the headquarters of Micron Technology and HP Inc., along with a concentration of software startups and IT services companies. Meridian and Nampa, both in the broader Treasure Valley, have seen secondary growth in technology employment and occasionally appear in H-1B filing data.
What types of technology roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship in Idaho?
Roles that qualify for H-1B sponsorship must meet the specialty occupation standard, requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field. In Idaho's technology sector, this commonly includes software engineers, semiconductor process engineers, electrical engineers, data engineers, and systems architects. Roles tied to Micron's manufacturing operations, such as process integration and equipment engineering, are particularly represented in H-1B filings from the state.
How do I find technology H-1B sponsorship jobs in Idaho?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter by state, visa type, and industry to surface technology roles in Idaho where employers have a documented history of H-1B sponsorship. This is more efficient than sorting through general job listings where sponsorship status is rarely disclosed upfront. Migrate Mate focuses exclusively on international job seekers, so the jobs listed are relevant to H-1B candidates.
Are there any Idaho-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in the technology sector?
Idaho's technology hiring is heavily influenced by Micron Technology's semiconductor operations, which means a meaningful share of H-1B roles in the state require specialized engineering backgrounds rather than general software skills. The cost of living in Boise is lower than major tech hubs like Seattle or San Francisco, which affects prevailing wage calculations that employers must meet under H-1B rules. Candidates should confirm that any job offer meets Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements for the specific role and location.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B technology jobs in Idaho?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
